More twisty than Deals Gap? US HIGHWAY 191 in ARIZONA beats the Gap!
We all have seen the videos of Deals Gap and how twisty it is. It is known to all bikers that love to take their bike through its paces that Deals Gap is the place to test your mettle. But we have found out through Road Trip America, that a stretch of US Highway 191 in Arizona has more twisties than the Gap. While just having more does not mean that it is better, it seems that Highway 191 could be better.
The route takes you from Springerville, Arizona to Morceni, Arizona. It runs just about 92 miles and the average speed is supposed to be 35 mph but if you go, we are sure that you will be going abit faster where possible.
“From Morenci, US-191 winds into the mountains. I counted 435 curves between the city limit and the town of Alpine, 92 miles away. There are twice that many lesser curves, what I’d call “directional adjustments.” You climb from about 3500 feet to almost 9000 in elevation. The route passes the vast lands of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, the Blue River Primitive Area, and the pine and aspen forests of the White Mountains.”
