2007 Lazy Lizard Labor Day Lake Run review and photos Part 1

Hey all, sorry for the delay on the pictures and review, but being a short week, the weather being fantasic, just found some time to get this done. If you wish, here is the direct link to the Lazy Lizard Labor Day Lake Run Pictures.

What can I say, we have attended this event for now the past 4 years and each year can say not a disappointment even with this year the city saying “NO” to the biker event, but allowed permits for other activities in the Meadows park area across from Lee’s The Cedars Restaurant and Lounge. That is another story we will address later on our site in the next few weeks. Check out her flyer for this year here LLLL Run

Even though Lee had to post on her web page that the event was somewhat canceled, we did not remove it from our calendar cause she said the plans were in place and she was going to do it and screw the city. Since they did not have permits, this year was donation only and they let people camp in their front yard as well as her in-laws front yard. How’s that for hospitality. We however due to my insistence found nice rooms at the All Season’s Motel for our two day stay. Due to our jobs, we did not go up till Saturday morning, took the quick route on the highway and got into town around 10am. This ride, I played navigator and boy it was nice to leave the driving to someone else and take in the sites. If you never been out to Detroit, Oregon you are missing on hell of a ride and a must see.

Saturday 9/1/2007 at the 5th Annual Lazy Lizard Labor day Lake Run (LLLL Run) Walking Around Saturday

Saturday was a fun filled day with plenty of things to do. By the looks of things, you would not have known that this was canceled and saw some familiar faces from years past and some new ones too. Since we got there in time for the Bike show, Daryl put his bike in. Boy you should have seen people checking out his Goldwing cause he has so much “extra” stuff attached to the handle bars. Let see, a digital camera, a video camera, GPS, and coffee mug holder that is in view. In the pockets and XM Radio, IPod and cell phone charger. Just for fun, on the display plate (paper plate for those who have never been on a bike run) we put “vibrating passenger seat” and people though, well it’s a Goldwing, might be true. The ladies love that part, LOL.

Next on the agenda was the bike games, some people who did not ride could participate in. Daryl got to play this time, and I took the pictures. I must say the favorite one of mine is Honey I’m Home and by the looks of the pictures that blonde was having some fun with Daryl. This year, a slim little gal that was part of the staff did the event WITHOUT a bike, and came in a close second in time running to the finish line. Have to say, that was a first for me. There was a new game, and don’t know if it was legal, but hey who cares. Its call the sip and ride. The rider and passenger stop at stacked bales of hay pick up a tray with 5 cups of beer, drink what they could while riding and whatever is consumed when it was placed at the finish line is how you win. Well the rider and passenger can drink in the contest and was sight to see. Check out the pictures to see whatcha missed. Bike Games

Time to take a break from the fun and games and check out the vendors, visit with people, listen to some good tunes and get some shots of the crowd enjoy this great setting. The Meadows is a fenced in park with little gift shops, a huge stage for this event, grilled food to order, drink shack, miniature putt putt course (watch this being built last year), lots of tables and chairs to take a load off and down a drink or two. As we were relaxing, Lee had a bit of an employee issue and took to the microphone to explain. Not to get into the dirt, but several of her staff members that were working the event took a walk and she was asking people to be patience as now her staff was half.

Well being the type of people Daryl and I are, we asked if she needed some help for the evening and we could step in. With a big sigh and tear in her eye she accepted the assistance. Ok, now it has been some time since I pulled beer (20 years) so I filled out the forms and gave it a go. Daryl assisted with entry so our youth did not sneak in. Most of the evening pictures are my biz partners skill as he had the short shift where as their were thirsty people all night. Damn, now I know why got out of that business long hours, work your butt off, but the group were very generous in the tip jar that was split between all of us. Hey, I was not in it for the money and got a free shirt out of it too. Thanks Lee.

I see that there was a bit of fun in the evening, damn wish I could have seen the Men’s Best Chapped Butt as looking at the pictures it would have been very entertaining. There were three guys this time, hell most of the time this contest is a pass due to no men will come up on the stage. The gent that won had the long black hair almost to his waist, but think he won due to opps where are my shorts. He had a shirt was fashioned where his underwear would be, and to the ladies delight, it was removed. Nope you had to be there to see this as our site does not post those. The ladies did a fine job in the Lady’s Best Chapped Butt and a good turn out and some were prepared too. Love the undies ladies and there two black pair with “Wanna Ride?” and “Kiss my Ass” and a couple with nothing at all.

After the contest and music ended at the Meadows many people finished their evening at The Cedars Lounge. The place was hopin, but as we had an early morning and had to dump all the pictures in the morning had a drink and called it a night.

Stay tune in the next couple of days for Sunday and Mondays fun filled time at Lazy Lizard Labor Day Lake Run 2007.

Hi, I am the not so silent other original founder and took up the two wheel riding at the tender age of 12. Dirt before street, but hey had to wait till I could get a license. Those boys should have never taught us to ride, cause they did not get their bikes back for the rest of the day, LOL. Currently have two Suzuki's in my garage 2001 Marauder and 2005 GZ250 that I call Mini Me. We travel all over attending rallies, run events, taking pictures, and making new friends. Catch me if you can
