On averge Oregon bikers having less accidents than other riders

2006 for Oregonian bikers was a better year than just for wine production, 2006 fatality rates for bikers averaged 3.9 deaths per 10,000 bikers. That makes nearly one half less the number of deaths as compared to the national average of 7.3 deaths per 10,000 bikers.

Unfortunely the same statistics are proving though that older Oregon bikers seem to be the ones involved in fatal motorcycle accidents. In Oregon the average age of a biker fatality is 45 years old, which is lower than 47 for the national average.

So if you are an Oregonian biker and you are in your 40’s, you might want to brush up on your riding skills so you can make it to your 50’s. Or invest in a better helmet and riding gear at the very least.

Having alot of biker friends from Oregon, I am very happy to hear that Oregon bikers are less likely to be involved in a fatal accident. The worst type of biker event I can imagine is a biker funeral to have to attend.  But I am getting close to my 40th birthday and this is a good reminder that maybe it is a time to take a class and re-evaluate my riding skills before I become one of these numbers.
