Canal Fest says it was not the same without the bikers

Canal Fest is a annual event for Tonawanda, New York but this year was a little different as the roar of motorcycles were definetly not as pronounced as in years past. Usually a bike rally is held about the same time and thousands of bikers who attend the rally also attend Canal Fest. But this year’s rally was cancelled and so Canal Fest’s numbers were also down.

Canal Fest organizers believe they lost $4,000 in business to the lack of the bikers attending. What is nice to hear though is that the organizers are hoping that the bike rally will return and so will the loud bikers for next year. Just as many other places have learned, the money that bikers bring can be considerable and when you lose the bikers, you lose a major group of attendees to your events.

With so many biker events happening around New York in July,  getting bikers to attend non-biker related stuff can be hard because there is so much to do.  Maybe if the bike rally does not come back on its own, Canal Fest should consider adding a bike run or rally to their weekend. While it might not draw as many bikers next year, given time it could bring the bikers and their pocketbooks with them over time.
