Biker’s shooter indicted but not for attempted murder
Apparently shooting at a biker is not attempted murder in the state of Kentucky. While this is not the first time Yalanda Sue Parrish has pulled a weapon on another motorist, it was the first time she has fired her gun in “self defense” and a biker was shot.
A six-member Clark Circuit Court grand jury spent last week reviewing evidence and witness testimony from the June 17 shooting in Jeffersonville before indicting Parrish on charges of aggravated battery and criminal recklessness.
According to police, Parrish shot Mosier with a .38-caliber handgun, for which she had a permit, after Mosier got off his motorcycle and came up to the window of her SUV at the busy intersection of Ind. 62 and Allison Lane.
Parrish told police she grabbed the handgun and fired in self-defense, fearing that Mosier was ready to strike her.
Carrying a sentence of two to eight years, hopefully this will also mean that she will be barred from owning a weapon and maybe even driving. Bikers everywhere may be a little bit safer with Yalanda behind bars and without a gun.
If you check the source article’s website, you will find alot of related material and it certainly gives a good read about the whole case but ultimately it just seems the shooting was not justified and certainly merits the court’s review of what really happened.
No matter what, we can learn from this example on both sides and see how things like this can turn deadly quickly. If you are ever the victim of a road rage incident or believe someone is operating their vehicle improperly, never confront them and contact the police as soon as possible. On either side, it is not worth shooting someone over or being shot because of actions on the road. Let the police handle it by providing them with the information and license plate number so they can do their job and keep everyone safe.
