Marine bikers to be counted

The U.S. Marine Corps has ordered every base to count the number of Marine bikers at each base to see what the actual number of Marine bikers there are.  While previous Army reports have counted up to 10% of troops own a motorcycle, the Marines are checking to see for themselves what the percentage is.

With more accidents being reported by Marine bikers, it is unclear if the number of bikers are up and the ratio of riders to accidents is staying the same or if ridership is down and the ratio is increasing.

Either way, Marine commanders may need to take steps to ensure that their fighting force remains safe while riding so they can fullfill their mission needs at home and abroad.  With the cost of gas staying rather high, the problem of more Marine biker accidents is sure to grow.
