Riding to Ohio biker events may mean increased scrutiny to you by police

Seven different counties have formed a coalition that will be “helping” motorcyclists be more safe on the road. What is disturbing is that the counties will be forming patrol corridors during motorcycle events.

Each agency will identify corridors with increased motorcycle traffic due to events taking place, such as bike nights and bike runs, and will employ high-visibility enforcement in the identified areas. The high-visibility enforcement will be funded through the Ohio Traffic Safety Office.

So if you are planning on going to a big event in Ohio, you better make sure your bike is legal, you have your endorsement and ride carefully in the following counties:

Mahoning, Trumbull, Lorain, Medina, Summit, Stark and Portage

Hopefully with the downturn in the economy and this new idea of targeting motorcycle events in Ohio will not so chill the events that they will not be cancelled or suffer a large reduction in attendance.
