Way back when, when I THOUGHT I was a serious racer, I had the opportunity to run a FUSA race with the pace car. I actually liked it. I mean face facts… as a racer I knew I wouldn’t see camera time in the race unless I was being lapped. The pace car brought us all back together and kept the cameras rolling. From a marketing perspective – it makes sense. That is why I am so glad to see the re-vamped Pace Car Policy released today. They are now going to pit everyone with the red flag, then re-enter the track behind the pace car.

When is it worth it to use valet parking? Perhaps on a first date, in order to impress your lady, you pull up to the valet in your ’92 Hyundai Elantra. You scope out the attendant, but he’s just some young punk with a red vest and a peach-fuzz puberty mustache. What if he goes for all your loose change littered in the center console? You have to take toll roads on your way back home! Decisions, decisions. Nonetheless, if you’re driving a super expensive car, valet parking is for you, my friend.

All righty, time again for the weirdest stuff bikers have hit or almost hit. As always, these adventures come from a thread on the Adventure Riders forum . We’ll dive right in. ************ Back in the ’80s I was riding with a friend in Southern California. We were blitzing down a highway and he ran over a half-eaten burrito still in the bag some prick tossed out. He kicked it up with his rear tire and it slapped me in the face.

Red Steel 2 Preview – buttonmasher.co.nz 07/15/2009 We recently attended a preview event with a few upcoming games on show. I drew the short straw and got a hands-on with Red Steel 2 to write up. Or at least that’s how it appeared at the time. In all honesty this game caught me by surprise. Having been burnt by the first game, I really did not expect much at all. The first Red Steel was a Wii launch title, and while not a terrible game it was certainly not great (or good) either.

I always dreaded the job of buying a motorcycle. It was of little difference if it was a used or new motorcycle. Of course, I liked hanging around the motorcycle lot on a Saturday morning and browsing the cycles. On the other hand, when it came to meeting with the sales person and negotiating on a cycle in person I never liked it. Then one day I stumbled on new and used motorcycles for sale auctions. I discovered that there were many reasons to like these online motorcycle auctions.

The open road is just three weeks away! But, I won’t be at the granddaddy of them all — I’ll miss chatting with CJ Halon ( Guilty Customs ), rubbing elbows with Jeff Cochran ( Sucker Punch Sally’s ), miss the Legend Ride with Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler and all the cigar aficionados, artists and vendors at the 69th Annual Black Hills Motorcycle Rally – a.k.a., Sturgis . Sure it’s a can’t miss event and I’m not cutting corners, but having been there a few times already I’m now more selective on which years to attend and if all goes well I’ll make next year’s big 70th blowout party.

Billed as an online relationship market for the sex positive community, the site features event planning, commerce, and mobile features on top of a general social networking platform. I will admit that when Sam first pinged me about this I thought it was an elaborate prank… “a social network for the ‘ sex positive ‘ community?” what my first reaction followed quickly by “is it a porn thing?” and then “okay this must be a prank and I’d better play along so as not to give him the satisfaction of punking me”.

To a biker the best job in the world would probably be being a rider of a glamorous team. What the public do not see is the dedication behind the scenes of the riders and the staff involved.

First of all, Happy Bastille Day! Yes, July 14 is the day the French celebrate the storming of the Bastille fortress and prison, signaling the beginnings of the New French Republic. Once, as a child, I tried to wish someone a “ Happy Bastille Day” but misspoke and ended up insulting the person’s parentage and legitimacy. Because, ethnically-speaking, I’m a mutt, I do believe there is some French dressing in our family salad…sorry about that…sounds alternately gross and naughty. I did learn a word or two of French while appearing as Lt.
