The 41st Tokyo Motor Show 2009 will be held from October 23rd to November 4th, 2009 at Makuhari Messe, Chiba City. Some of the events and exhibits sound fun like the passenger car test drive program and the motorcycle test ride program. But not everything is for the fast driving playboy — there are events for the family and even the video gamer this year. Some of the highlighted events include: Disney Corner With cooperation from Oriental Land Co., Ltd., a Disney Dream Cruiser will be on display in the East Hall.

The legendary Austrian skier Hermann Maier retired on Tuesday, ending his illustrious career at age 36. Among his many accomplishments – it would be tedious to list them all here – the greatest might have been returning to the top of his sport after nearly losing his leg in a horrific motorcycle accident in 2001. He recounted that event in his terrific autobiography, ” The Race of My Life .” Here’s the epic crash that cemented Maier’s international reputation as a tough guy.

Artists chosen for for the one-night event at the historic Chelsea building La Venue include Art Chantry, Brian Ewing, Derek Hess, Dirty Donny, Frank Kozik, Harpoon, John Van Hamersveld, Lindsey Kuhn, Tara McPherson and The Pizz, who will each show a tank painted in their own style and peddle signature art posters.

Well, obscure for people that haven’t seen it, and chances are, if you’re a wrestling fan and you’re reading this site, this reference is right in your wheelhouse. No, no, I mean that as a good thing. Honest. So due to an impromptu dinner with the future in-laws, I wasn’t able to start the show on time, which means DVR temptation is very apparent.

Fatigue – that’s a word you hear being thrown about a lot at endurance racing events. We know that as drivers do long stints behind the wheel, fatigue starts setting in and the lap times start to drop steadily. But the $64,000 question is how long can a driver stay out on track without compromising the performance of his/her car or the safety of the other competitors. People keep throwing around the statistic of F1 drivers having an average heart rate of 170 bpm for the 90 odd minute duration of the race.

AMA Racing: American Motorcyclist Association _ The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has announced that it has entered into a multi-year agreement with the AMA-chartered Dayton Motorcycle Club to host and promote the annual AMA Racing Hillclimb Grand Championships . The first event run under the new agreement will be held at the nationally known Devil’s Staircase in Oregonia, Ohio, Aug. 7-8, 2010.

Every year the Dayton Motorcycle Club puts on the Devil’s Staircase Motorcycle hill climb. In fact this was the 60th running in 62 years (2 years were cancelled due to weather). Now I haven’t been in 20+ years but it seemed like a good thing to do this year since our late summer endurance rally ( The Void ) was cancelled. So here we go. Always fun to park your bike in a muddy cow pasture. We were there early but not too early. This field would be full in a couple hours.

The 49th All Japan Model Hobby Show will be finishing up this Sunday in Japan, the first two days of the event are for the trade but over the weekend the show opens up their doors to the public. One of the things I’ve always loved about Japanese toys and hobby kits is the wonderful level of detail and craftsmanship. There’s a wide range of old toys (i.e. trains, planes and automobiles) but every so often you’ll notice an anime themed knickknack.

The cool fall temperatures definitely had an impact on the three major community events that took place Saturday (10/10/09), but all achieved their goal of helping others. Patterson Park Community Clean-Up When nearly fifty volunteers meet on the Castle Street side of the Patterson Community Center the temperature was 56-degrees. The crisp morning didn’t deter the enthusiasm of those who were handed gloves and bags from the city. Area resident left large items outside that normally would not be accepted by the city’s solid waste crew.

Motorcycle helmets are one of the most important pieces of safety equipment that you can have when you ride a motorcycle. The length of the trip is completely irrelevant because you simply never know when an accident could occur. Why take the risk? Sure it might mess up your hair, or it may not look cool to some people, but at least you’ll be safer than if you weren’t wearing one.

One of the best festivals in the whole area, Country Day on the Hill, is on tap for Saturday Oct. 10. Entertainment includes The 8 Tracks, a band playing the smooth sounds from the 70s. Other entertainers include Teresa Marie Cattaneo, a Country Day and local venue favorite. The Joe Jonas Band will bring the R &B flavor and lovers of faith based music will want to hear the Darrell May Band. That is all awesome, but I know you want to know where the tasty food is.

Police continue to scour the Ventura County coast this afternoon for a gunshot victim who was allegedly shot and dumped along Pacific Coast Highway by a 58-year-old Oxnard man who was later arrested after trying to elude police in an early-morning chase, authorities said. The bizarre case began shortly after 2 a.m. today when California Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop a pickup truck after the driver ran a stop sign near Camarillo Springs Road and Adohr Lane.

Murder charges were dismissed today against a commercial truck driver whose runaway big rig killed a man and his 12-year-old daughter in La Cañada Flintridge in April, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. Pasadena Superior Court Judge Lisa Lench dismissed the two counts of murder on which a county grand jury had indicted Marcos Barbosa Costa on June 11, said Jane Robison, a spokeswoman in the district attorney’s office. “She found there was insufficient evidence to prove implied malice,” Robison said.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a 28-year-old Torrance woman last winter and dumping her body in the snow near Running Springs, San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials said today. Tony Lopez Perez, 35, was arrested Thursday night in the death of Cori Daye Desmond after he went to sheriff’s headquarters for questioning, said Cindy Beavers, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Department. The Redondo Beach man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held without bail.
