Hi, I am the not so silent other original founder and took up the two wheel riding at the tender age of 12. Dirt before street, but hey had to wait till I could get a license. Those boys should have never taught us to ride, cause they did not get their bikes back for the rest of the day, LOL. Currently have two Suzuki's in my garage 2001 Marauder and 2005 GZ250 that I call Mini Me. We travel all over attending rallies, run events, taking pictures, and making new friends. Sturgis Rally Review Aug 4, 2009

Oh Wow did I tie one on the night before and feel like crap. Today just taken it easy, get some writing done and make my way to the Chip for a Michael Lichter’s 9th Annual Motorcycles as Art Reception in the evening. Since there is alcohol involved and I am hung over today, taking the car. The weather called for a storm later in the evening and my intuition for all these factors told me the car was the choice for today.

I was told by a frequent visitor that Sturgis hits ya with a DUI for over $2300.00 gets you out of the charges. Man, that does not fit into my budget but for others who want to take a chance better than coming back for court.

Made my way through town to the Monkey Rock bar just across the street from Full Throttle Saloon. Just a big tent but hella big inside. Outside vendor booths full of biker wares, Boss Hoss bikes cost $10 to take a demo ride. Thought about it as the three wheeler really looked cool, but passed for now.

There were Monkey Rock girls with painted chests and found a vendor inside that does the painting. There was a lady getting hers done, was just about part way and stayed to chat so could get a picture of the final results.. This is the funny part, this couple is from my home town of Vancouver, Washington and of all the people here at Sturgis to run into someone that is just few miles from my house.

Killed a few hours at the bar and made my way to Buffalo Chip for the party. Got there a bit early at the entrance to the event and started chatting with a fine gent from Thunder Press named Walt Lumpkin. I was honored that he knew about our site and had nice things to say about it. On this trip meeting people from all over, thought that would just be introducing our site and find out that many already have us bookmarked in our favorites. Guess were doing a great job and the word is getting out.

Walt introduced me to some really fun people, met some new and the party started off great till mother nature took a turn for the worst. An announcement was made that a sever storm was rolling in with 70 mile an hour winds, rain and quarter size hail making its way from Deadwood. The kind staff of the Chip offered that anyone who wanted to protect their bike could bring it from the parking lot to the cover in the reception area. Many people moved their bikes and proceed into the building.

I love storms and stayed out under the tent outside. Never saw weather change so drastic before, clear and calm to whipping wind, torrential down pour, but still warm. The winds did pick up, but not quite 70 miles per hour and no hail. Some people waited to move their bikes and three steps out of cover, you were soaked to the bone. Even with the storm, people were enjoying the company and the display of bikes displayed. I really enjoyed seeing up close the POW bike crafted by Orange County Choppers as I watched that show where they built it.  The display is awesome and check out the pictures that I took.

The weather was letting up a bit and figured would head back to the VFW and assess the damage to my tent. Driving down the center of town, looked like a ghost town, most of the parking lots were empty of bikes, very few people on the sidewalks and a few riders with bar made rain gear (large plastic bags). My tent faired well, chatted up with some new folks that came in from San Diego and hit the sack early.

Sturgis Rally Review Aug 2 & 3, 2009

Sunday August 2st, 2009

Headed out on the back roads to Sturgis since I was staying in Spearfish, was told there were back roads as the speed limit back home is max 65 and really have never run at 75 except for some short jumps. Besides the landscape around here is beautiful and wanted to get a look other than from the freeway.

Got a bit lost as the map I had was not too clear, but some nice guys pulled up next to me and pointed out the way. Stopped in a little town called Whitewood and grabbed a bite to eat. Since it was just me, joined a table of locals so would not take up a whole table by myself. Found one of the ladies sitting there had lived in Washington at one time. Just is a small world as I can travel over 1200 miles and find people that lived in my part of the country.

Today was more of people watching, getting to find all the stuff in town. Since I can not see well at night, headed back to camp and party with the folks from the VFW. I found out that many of the folks that stay here year after year to meet up with friends from last year. Kind of like a family reunion with new people that join every year. Felt right at home here and know this will be the place I will stay in years to come.

Monday August 3rd, 2009

Today is more so like yesterday, check in out the town, shoot some events and venture out to the Full Throttle Saloon. Got some great shot, did some window shopping, ran into people from the VFW.

Made my way through town to the bar. Huge parking lot with gravel and oh how I hate gravel. Found a spot, parked and wandered to the main grounds. Whew its hot and in need of water. Ok, I know things are expensive in town, but come on $3.00 for a small bottle of water and $6.00 for a hot dog. I found a sign saying free Full Throttle Tats and figured hell better than a T-Shirt. A lady was just starting and this guy was also reading the sign. Met Joe from Pittsburgh, PA that rode this journey alone. Him and I got in line to wait our turn and chatted about bikes. A couple other guys took the challenge and we all chatted away waiting our turn. One guy behind me was a tattoo virgin and this would be his first. The tat guy did a great job and was working for tips. I gave him $40 as it was well worth the price.

The sky was turning a bit ugly so headed back to camp for a round of drinks with my new found friends.

First Sturgis Rally for Joan

First Sturgis Rally for Joan.

I been working my butt off to save for this trip and other runs this summer and jazzed to get on the road. In my working life, have never taken a two week vacation and this one will be something I have wanted to do for 8 years now.

The weather in Vancouver Washington hit an unseasonal heat wave so my trip was delayed by a day. Since Thursday night is bike night at the Cascade Bar went and chatted with some friends to chill out before the long drive in the morning. Car was packed, oil in the bike changed and took big Blue out for a run to make sure my oil filter seated. Had a nice relaxing eve, headed home to load Blue onto the trailer and strap her down.

Since this trip I was traveling alone just a smart to haul the bike then ride without a buddy. Thanks to a good friend, I did not have to rent one and saved some cash. Time to sack out for the long drive in the morning.

The day started without a hitch, stopped a couple of times to check my straps on the bike and headed down the road. The weather got hot quick and really felt for those riders out in the sun as my car has AC.

For me, this was a new adventure as the route I was taking would have me travel through states that I never have been. Even crossing back into Washington I had never been on this side of the state. This crossing over the area is bleak this time of year and hot as hell. Closer to Spokane the green began to appear again. Just a short jaunt in Idaho then to Montana. Wow, the first half of this state is beautiful and for the longest time saw a river right next to the interstate. Took some pictures from car when it was safe to do so.

I made it to Butte, MT for the night and 16 hours of driving had kicked my ass. Got a room, spent too much but at this point did not care, popped into the casino next door as they gave ya free beer while gambling. Tipped a couple and went back to pass out in my room.

Up bright and early the next morning and many other travelers on their way to Sturgis had made this a stop for the evening too. Nice to see half the parking lot filled with all different make and models of bikes. Last leg of the journey would be another 8 hours as made it to a little over the halfway point.

Got to Spearfish about 3pm and the GPS took me to the VFW which I would call home for the next week. In 2004 Daryl and our friend Sy stayed at that location and had a very nice stay. Since I wanted some sleep and a place to party at the end of the day due to I don’t drink and ride. I was met by a nice older gent named Don who signed me in, gave me a tour and told me a little about the campers staying here. During sign in, asked if there was more in my party, just little old me and he said they would watch out for me during my stay. Kind of why wanted to stay at the VFW as being a member I would rather put money in there pockets to update the club house than in some greed corporation.

Setup camp, dropped the bike and went looking for some dinner as I was starved and took the bike for a short ride. Headed back and the party was just starting at the VFW and starting meeting people as they came back from their rides. Found out that most of the campers return to this location every year to meet up again, kind of like a family group. Too cool and glad this was my choice for my 1st Sturgis.

2009 Run Review Wildwood Blue Rally @ Long Beach, WA

Hit the road around 10am on Friday, day off and slept in since this was a short jaunt to the coast.  The weather reports called for not so nice weather and since I was hauling the gear, choose the car this weekend.  Much easier to throw wet gear into a plastic bag in the trunk than trying to strap it on the bike.  Made really good time with a few stops for road construction but gave me a chance to eat my lunch I grabbed once I got off the freeway.

Sitting there in traffic and the drive down Hwy 4 on the Washington side (much better view than Hwy 30 on the Oregon side) I remember why I love living in the Pacific NW.  Not religious by any means, but we do live in God’s country.  The trip there would have been great on the bike, have been on this road before and still puts me in awe every time.  Moving through the construction zones, no long waits just a 20 minute delay to my trip and violating the speed limit put my on the site on time.

This location is a campground which the bikers had one side, and a bunch of baseball players on the other.  Check in was fast and great smiles greeted me on my way in.  Daryl had met the run coordinators on the Golden Dale rally and they were happy to see us there to cover this first event.  From the looks of the setup they did a great job.  My wrist band is on and now time to find a nice spot to throw up the tent.  Man, it was hot already, but not too far off the coast rain clouds were heading in.  This area had plenty of trees and found a nice one to setup camp under.  Daryl would follow later in the evening due to his work commitments.

Camp setup, time for me to wander around and meet new people and see the wares of the vendors.  Love camp hopping, the stories and running into old friends and ran into many I have not seen in a while.  Later in the day met a special character named Kenny with a bottle in each hand sharing with anyone his spirits and stories of rallies past.  From his attire, this man has seen many of roads, rallies and later find out that a trap, jacket under his head and stars are his bed to rest.  Ran into some old friends from rallies of old, Shauna and Mitch of Brock Ent. and really good to see them again.  Talked about old times and caught up of what/how we are now.

Clouds are starting to roll in; cooling it off a bit but still nice temperature out and the music has started.  Daryl arrived, setup his stuff and I asked for a ride into town to chat about the event and get some food.  Hoped on the back cause I have a bit of a buzz going and should not be driving.  Found some good seafood and headed back to camp.  Things were picking up a bit, but as I have found on many runs, Saturday night is the bomb.

Moved over to a covered area with a nice bond fire burning to warm up and ditch the sprinklers that were happening and was greeted with smiles.  Here I met the other people from Aberdeen area where Kenny was from a big man with a nice smile named Paul and shy Mike sitting back in the shadows.  Shauna joined us later after closing shop and a few others.  Oh my, what a blast, laughing till our sides and face hurt, don’t ask me about what cause passing the bottle around I know it was stupid stuff.  Telling stories of runs pass and such and me with my quick wit kept the party rolling into the morning.  Damn people, its 5am I’m hitting the hay for a few hours so can take a walk on the beach before the bike games in the afternoon.

There was a poker run, did not go but many from camp did and was pretty deserted when I got up.  Cleaned up and headed into town for something to eat, walk on the beach and check out the knickknack shops in town.  It was overcast and warm, not too windy and really not a bad day at all.  Time to head back to camp for the bike games that will be starting soon.

The Bike games were great, many participants in each one, but the one game I think I liked best was the balloon toss.  I have seen this at Iron horse run, but think why I got a kick out of it is what they filled with water was a bit different.  Instead of balloons, they used condoms and was really funny when they caught them as they stretched a bit more than a balloon does.  Check out the pictures of the bike games, you will see what I am talking about.

Games over, time for some dinner and I will enjoy the sound of some good tunes and great conversations.  Sitting over chatting with Shauna, Mitch and Mike at the vendor booth we saw these men putting up a contraption in the middle area in front of the band.  Stripper pole was set up and the men just were having a ball dancing on the pole.  The women did take it over and everyone who did it or watch had a blast.  Think I would like to see that out next year on Friday night as everyone got a kick out it.

Well the music ended, was starting to get a bit wet so a troop of us made it back to the covered campfire for some more wise cracks and laughter.  My stomach and face still hurt from the night before, and well we did a repeat till the early am again.  Oh well, bet the neighboring tenters really were POed at us.

I will say for a first rally these guys did a great job and will be there again next year.  Thanks for letting Biker-Events cover your event and will be there again.  Check out our fun in the picture section.

Joan signing off for now till Run21 then off to Sturgis this year.

17th Annual Iron Horse Run Review

Took off early on Friday to the Iron Horse Rally and this time took the car as I wanted some comforts on this Rally as I would be there a couple of nights.   My other support staff would show up later and I selected this time to haul the gear.  Let them have the ride, hey got to keep your people happy in this biz as we do it for fun.  When it begins to become a job and no fun hard to keep people happy.  Have packed in the past just the basics, but a 300 plus mile ride/drive, just wanted a bit more

Rolled in about noon or so and was met by the nicest people at the checkin.  WOW, if I had know that it was at Selmac Lake but did not know the lake was in the park.
The park on this side of the lake was exclusive for the event, which was great.  You have to see the pics, as no discription would come close as it is a fantastic area.

Note to self-next year bring some swim gear and thanks guys for the knife to cut my jeans but only had the one pair.  Love that they did not allow cars in the camp areas, just bikes only but allowed me to drop the gear off from my car and put it in the parking lot after unloading.  They did have quads with trailers to take your gear to your campsite, but seeing they were busy I did not want to bother them.

Setup camp, met my neighbors, which said they have done this rally often and found a site with some shade during the day.  Ventured out to snaps some pics of the day and meet new friends.

Had not gotten far and hear “Hey did I not see you at the Union for Kids Run” which happened in Portland Oregon the weekend before which I replied, yep that was me.  I rembered the conversation we had, so asked, “Where is your son?”  They were meeting half way to this event as he lived in California and was a reunion meeting as they both ride.

So met Fred again, and he introduced his son Joe and Uncle Joe who rode up with him from California and found my new Rally buddies.   My crew was due any time now, but got started meeting new people, as this was the first Iron Horse Rodeo Rally run that our site has covered.

I must say, the setup was awesome, ran into vendors from events done previous years and some new ones.  This was a family event and is nice to see kids enjoying the love of biking, family environment alone with the love of what we are.

The day was warm, but the cool breeze off the lake made life bearable and did not mind the heat.  Our location had plenty of shade from the trees to escape the heat and if you forgot something, just a short hop down the road was a store to get what your needed.  Also, if you needed to make a call, you had to venture to the store to make a call.  I really like that my phone does not work and may times just toss it into the tent for the weekend as I am here to have fun, not talk on the phone.

Wandered around a bit, chatted with new people I had yet to meet, check out rides that were unique and realized damn I am starved.  My crew got delayed leaving town and combined dinner with my new found friends.  Hey, part of what I am and what we are is sharing what we have with others.  As I have lived this life in years past, it’s a big family helping each other.

Ok, since I was a good girl for most of the winter and had yet to cut loose, sorry to all but Friday night chucked the camera and lived it up.  The band played some groovy tunes and danced my butt off.  There was a time these guys were wearing me out, and saw a couple of ladies dancing together and asked them for some help.  Love to dance, but keeping up with three guys, LADIES need some help.

The evening weather was fantastic, (except the mosquitoes which linger in the shaded tree area) wow and a look up into the clear sky at the stars, man I miss that living in the city.  Perfect temperature, no need for a jacket till later as it drops fast after midnight.  The music ended and we retired to my campsite, sippin on some adult beverages till it got a bit cool and we all headed for our tents.

OH MY, forgot what it was like to be in the high desert, damn it got cold that night.  Note to self, need a warm body to keep me next time or an extra blanket.

Saturday Morning.

The sun is up, I’m a wake but it’s too cold, sleepin in till it warms up a bit to get up.   Slept like a log be it camping or the consumption the night before.  Nah, it was both and had not had a good night sleep like that in a long time.  Seems like fresh air, nature, good company and being around this atmosphere I seem to relax and the stressors of life just disappear.

K, warm enough to roll out and my new found friends promised breakfast the next morning which is cool as I really hate cooking morning food.  Most times good to go with coffee, cigs, and a couple aspirin and I am good to go for a bit.  Figured, make coffee, as I cannot get going without it and share with the guys.  Man, they were already up and ready to go.  Shower were not working, technical error, but been to sites with no amenities and made the best of it.  Hats are great and why pack one wherever I go to hide the mop.

There was a poker run, but since I did not ride was offer to pack on the back and passed.  Did my normal camp hopping to meet new found friends and snaps some pics.  The bike games were great, some new ones that I had not seen before and took some skill of the riders involved.

The poker run riders started returning and new people were showing up all day to fill the campground up.  Made a couple more rounds the campsite and headed back to camp to cook up dinner and ready for the nights festivities.

The evening started with the raffle prizes, no luck for me this time and proceeded to the Awards for games and bike show.  Check out in the picture section as they were awesome and one couple sweeped up.  The band was great, started a bit slow but picked up where everyone was dancing even if just toe tapping.

Music ended, and we retired to a nice campfire near our tents till our steam ran out and off to bed.  I must say did not get as cold as the night before, but if you go to this event take plenty of bug spray to not get eaten alive.

Sunday morning warmed up quick, time to fix some breakfast and so nice to have coffee delivered to me as I needed a kick start.  Many people started breaking down their camps by this time, but i was in no hurry and just kicked back and chatted with old and new friends.

I had a blast at this event and will be back next year.  The event schedule allowed time to enjoy some chill back time and keep your entertained.  Most times I am running my butt off to cover an event, but this one let me have some time to visit with people.  I wish to thank D & S Harley Davidson for their support of the event visit them here .

Catch me if you can.

25th Annual Jumbo’s Toy Run 2007 Review and photos

Up early, but not as early as yesterday as this run is a whole two hours later, but an hour drive from Vancouver to Longview Washington. To my surprise that morning was we were to have our good friends Mike and Sandy to meet us and another rider Jerry down the road for this little trek.

I covered a bit about this run on our site 25th Annual Jumbo’s Memorial Toy Run November 25, 2007 so people would know the history of this run and how it was named. The sponsors of the event were SWWMA and Cowlitz County ABATE.

The day, wow a bit warmer and very nice ride to Longview and as we got a bit of a head start on things, grabbed a bite to eat in Longview then onto the start point. Well not hard to find a parking lot full of bikes and to my surprise the start and end point were back to back business Twin City Glass and Moose Lodge NO 530.

This was very similar to yesterday’s event, asking for a donation or toy which you were given a raffle ticket and a parade route through town. Only this one, there were not local law enforcement present, but I was told that a local non-biker group volunteered to road block our little event for us. I wish I had gotten the name, but if you are reading this a HUGE THANK YOU from the biker community. Take a look at what you missed in our Pics section.

Nice little putt around town, people on the street waving and back to the Moose Lodge for a bite to eat and some nice beverages. A bit of music, then the raffle began, and oh wow did it take sometime to do as there were a generous donations made and I believe I also heard the event had well over 150+ riders, collected well over $1000 and a pile of toys too.

Those who did not go, you missed out on some great people, nice ride day, and a bit of warmth that can not be felt with even the hottest furnace made.

Take care during this holiday and we at Biker Events wish you a

Happy Holiday and a Fantastic New Year.

2007 True Apostles/Bikers For Christ Toy Run Review and Photos

Our day started a bit early as we were going to join some friends for a bite to eat on this cold but clear day in November to ride with the run organizers True Apostles/Bikers For Christ. Check out their website and gotta love their motto:

“Some wish to live within the sound of church or chapel bells;

We want to run a rescue shop within a yard of Hell!!!”

Grabbed a bite to eat at Fat Dave’s in Vancouver then headed down the street to Columbia Harley Davidson for the sign up at 9:30am. Wow, there were at least 50 bikes in the parking lot, and more to come before roll out at 11am.

If you never been to Columbia Harley Davidson in Vancouver, the people there are wonderful. I had a Buell some time back (before a Ford 350 made it a hood ornament of it in 2004) and Bobby worked in the service department and treated me with respect and enthusiasm, which those people who own Buell’s know that some HD shops treat us like bastard children of the HD family, but not here. Had a chat with Bobby, found he had been promoted to Vehicle Sales Consultant, way to go. The crew at Columbia took great care of us as they have on other runs they sponsor. Support this great sponsor and drop by to meet this fantastic group of people.

More bikes rolled in and the parking lot filled up and started spilling out into the street. For this ride, each person was asked to donate $5, received a run pin for the first 150 people (which by the way they ran out, awesome!!) a raffle ticket and asked to bring a toy for children in need. All bikes were welcome and i might say there was a little of everything from a touring cruiser to even a scooter with a soft top which is in our Pics sections. Our local law enforcement escorts arrived, and have to say thanks to you all as they volunteer their time to participate in our run for the Salvation Army. Hey, when is the last time you ran a red light with your local PD watching you and got away with it. Oh, wait they were blocking traffic, so it was OK today !!!!

Just before 11am, a member of the True Apostles led this giant group into prayer for a great and safe ride. I know that many here today are not religious, but we all carry the spirit of riding as our common factor and respect for all our fellow riders be it a club based off religion, lone wolf, family focused, or outlaws. That is something that many years ago I fell in Love with, riding and a huge extended family from all walks of life.

Time for us to mount up and take a nice leisurely ride down 99th, which turns into Main Street through downtown Vancouver on our way to the other side of town. We had not gotten very far, and with over 155 bikes in the group, there was bound to be a bit of a slow down at points to move this mass group through town. At this point a gent in a SUV going North bound as we were heading south bound jumped out of his vehicle, ran over to one of our riders and handed them a huge stuffed animal for the kids. How is that for generosity, love this time of year when I see people giving unconditional, give up a night out, ride in the FREEZING cold or cut their own spending to help a kid to smile on Christmas Day? As we headed down Main Street in Vancouver people came out of the buildings and waved, cheered or looked in wonder of all these bikers bundled up, with Santa Biker in the lead. My buddy PUD Bob wears this outfit every year and is the perfect Santa in my opinion, which is bias but he is a great person indeed. Many of the people who saw us had a look of puzzlement, but as I found out later from a business, they thought it was a funeral procession. Silly people, why would we have toys strapped to our bikes, too Damn funny.

Took a turn onto Mill Plain, and then left onto 112th with our final stop at The Salvation Army. Daryl and I stopped on the left side of the road to snap some pics of people entering the drive then tried to find a spot in this VERY packed parking lot. Some removed a layer or two as the day was warming up a bit and proceeded into the building to deliver you toys and grab a warm drink and some delicious soup the Salvation Army volunteer so graciously profiled at the end of our ride. With every paid entry you received a raffle ticket and they began to raffle off the donated items from various business. I had a chance to chat with a gent from True Apostle’s and he told me that they had raised over $1200 that day for families in need.

It was a great day, even with the cold, but hey when you spend it with over 150 of your friends in the wind, every day is great. Next year, come join us as I can guarantee it will be a day you will never forget and find a new friend or two.

Love Leathers 3rd Annual Run for the Turkey Run Review and Photos

There were a couple of rides this weekend and we selected to stay local for two reason. One, the weather was a bit on the cruddy side, the other was it was helping families in our area. More so, this event was for the community we live in. All the pics of the event can be seen in our Biker Pics of our site.

We arrived a little before 9am, a couple of bikers were already there and we stepped up on the porch to get out of the rain and chat a bit. A few more trickled in; the weather I know was an issue to low attendance, but everyone who showed up were great people. Hey just a few more people to call friend down the road as my idea is a friend is someone I have yet to meet, family is the biker community. How many other communities go out in the pouring rain and cold to help families in need? One, bikers and this bunch of people have huge hearts; some had at least an hour travel time to get here in the pouring rain.

So by 10am, there were 7 bikes and about half of them doubled up, but ready to ride. The route was shortened a bit due to the weather had left many fallen trees to two of the places, so the 2nd and 3rd stop were eliminated. Thanks anyways to Jack’s Restaurant/Store and Big Fir Inn for their invite, but too much of Mother Nature in the road to keep us safe.

1st stop was in Pacific Rim Furnishings/Beyond the Garden Gate in Woodland, Washington for some treats. Nah, we did not take the freeway, but a wonderful back road adjacent to I5. It rained on us a bit, but WOW the fall colors were fantastic. Today I jumped on back of Daryl’s 1800 Goldwing as I really wanted to take in the sights, well mostly wanted to be a bit lazy. Riding in the rain, leaves and trees in the road is not a fun ride and a lot of work and today just wanted to be spoiled a little bit. Thanks to the people at Pacific Rim Furnishings as they treat us like Kings/Queens, gave us homemade Clam Chowder, hot cider, sweet treats to be had through out the store. I have past this place on other rides, but never went it. If you are looking for a special gift this Holiday season, check them out.

Ok, now off to Washougal, Washington via the back roads. Just as we were about to leave, a gent who got a late start showed up, got his card and now our damp group of riders became 8. The rain let up as we travel a great route to Washougal, very little on the road which keeps the group safe on our travels. The sun started peaking out as we pulled into the Parker House Restaurant on the water front. Man, what a nice view from the lounge, and the ladies there were very nice to these wet smiling bikers. Since it was around lunch time, we had a bite to eat and have to say, will go back another day to sample a bit more of their menu.

Now the sun is shining, and look there is some blue sky, woo hoo, so now to return to Love Leathers to drawn two cards and see who won with the best hand. This time we took the freeways to head back, ya the fast way but guess we were a bit tired of the rain and wanted to beat it back. The ladies helping with the event did an awesome job and too bad not more people showed up on Saturday as it was a great way to spend a rainy day ridin with a bunch of new found friends.

Also, if you are looking for some gifts for your biker friends, check out this for after Turkey day specials.

25th Annual Jumbo’s Memorial Toy Run November 25, 2007

A friend of ours, Kippy told us about this run, so found a flyer at Love Leathers and snapped a pic to add it to our calendar.

Now home, did a bit of research to find out more on this event, and found last year’s event for 2006 was covered by The Daily News Online wrote a wonderful article of this ride. It had a bit of Christmas cheer in it which made for a good way to show the support of the biker community and a little history on the event. Check out their complete story here

The event was in memory of a Harley rider/R.A. Long High School teacher named Jim “Jumbo” DeMakos who passed away in 1984 due to a drowning accident and two years earlier helped with starting this run for kids.

We plan on attending this ride/parade come rain or shine (weather man as of today show Sun) and will post the pics with in the week. Come join us for a sweet ride, stop by and say hi or ask us to take your picture.
