THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO HELP THE San Antonio State School which was established to meet the needs of people with developmental disabilities, behavioral and psychiatric challenges, medical problems, provides vocational training, and physical management therapies to the South Texas area wanting their family members close. The Volunteer Services Council of the San Antonio State School, a non-profit organization, is instrumental in securing goods, services, and funds, which go directly to the residents of the facility.
On Saturday, December 1, 2007 The San Antonio Area Motorcyclists will host the 40th Annual Monty Mann Memorial Run. Monty Mann, now deceased, put together a bike run for the San Antonio Area Motorcyclists to benefit this worthy cause as the State School gets very little help. This fun event raises money and collects food, clothing, and especially gifts like toys, games, crafts for the 300 residents ranging from 12 to 80. All bikers are invited to join the SAAM on Sunday (December 9), to deliver all these wonderful gifts along with Santa on his bike. It is a touching and rewarding event to see these lovely people light up with excitement from Santa on his motorcycle with his biker helpers. It was founded to help prove that all bikers are not bad guys and cares for their community in mass and involves bikers from all segments of society.
Activities include a fun run beginning at 11:30, field events, vendors, contingency prizes, a live auction, a 50-30-20 drawing, music, dancing, food, fun and lots of generous friends. Doors open at 9AM and a $6.00 donation along with a gift is requested at gate or a $10.00 donation. All proceeds to benefit the San Antonio State School. Contact Dixie Howell (210)590-8095 or DixieJr@satx.rr.com for further information or to schedule an interview.
