The Frances R. Willis Society for Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (SPCA) for Dorchester County is hosting their fourth annual PAW-KER Run. This year's PAW-KER Run, a play on the traditional poker run, will take participants over 108 miles throughout the lowcountry in search of the perfect poker hand, returning them to Dorchester Shrine Club in Summerville to reveal the best hand of the day. The reveal will include food, music, and numerous prizes provided by various local businesses. This fundraising event is sure to be fun for all ages whether you join in by motorcycle or automobile. 100% of the proceeds will go to the FRWSPCA Annual Fund benefiting the shelter.

The Second Annual Memory Ride sponsored by St. Joseph of the Pines for the Western NC Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is set for Saturday, September 19, 2009. Registration for the 100-mile ride through the countryside begins at 10 A.M. at 590 Central Drive (Hwy 22) Southern Pines, NC. There will be a stopover at the winery in Wagram and upon return to Southern Pine, lunch will be served at Belle Meade at St. Joseph of the Pines.
